Scarf History Series: Celebrating Henri d'Origny and His Timeless Hermès Designs
One of the most influential designers in the realm of luxury scarves is Henri d'Origny, whose remarkable creations for Hermès have left an indelible mark on the fashion world. D'Origny’s designs are a masterclass in craftsmanship and creativity.
His work features a stunning backdrop of diamond shapes, stars, and droplets, intricately arranged to form a labyrinth of leather and metal motifs, as seen in the Eperon d’Or style. At the center lies a beautiful rosette, surrounded by a symphony of spurs, stirrups, reins, and whips. This design pays homage to the Cadre Noir de Saumur, a prestigious French riding school that has been a symbol of equestrian excellence since the 19th century.
Since joining Hermès in 1958, d'Origny created some of the brand's most iconic scarves, each telling a story of tradition and innovation. His deep connection to the Hermès legacy is further enriched by his friendship with Patrick Guerrand, the grandson of Emile Hermès.
Beyond scarves, d'Origny collaborated with Apple on the Cape Cod (where Respoke has a seasonal retail location) watch face which beautifully bridges the gap between timeless craftsmanship and modern technology.
Most interestingly, Respoke's very first produced pair was using the Eperon d’Or scarf. Shop our collection of Respoke products using the multiple color ways of this scarf online and at our retail locations.
