Q: What are espadrilles?

A: Espadrilles are traditional shoes that have been around for thousands of years.
The word is derived from “esparto” which is a type of plant that was originally burned and then braided to make the soles. Nowadays espadrille soles are made using woven jute. The sole, which is 100% natural, molds itself to the shape of the foot, and allows the skin to breathe; making espadrilles a healthy option for footwear. Jute fiber is 100% biodegradable and recyclable and thus environmentally friendly.

Q: Where are Respoke espadrilles made?

A: All Respoke espadrilles are made in our workshops in La Rioja, Spain by multi-generational craftsmen. Every pair is entirely handmade and hand sewn. The La Rioja region is the original birthplace of espadrilles. Through the work of local expert artisans our espadrilles achieve the highest standards of quality and durability.

Q: How are Respoke espadrilles made?

A: The natural rubber sole is hand cut to a specific size. The jute insole is hand wound and formed to the shape of the foot. Next we attach the rubber sole to the woven jute insole. The upper fabric (typically silk, cashmere, linen or cotton) is backed to cotton canvas to provide strength and protection and then cut to specific shapes. The fabric portion is then hand sewn to the sole using jute that has been coated in beeswax. Additional hand stitching is then applied to the toe for added protection and strength.

Q: What are Respoke espadrilles made from?

A: Rubber and jute are the basis for the sole. For the uppers we use designer silk, cashmere, linen, and/or cotton.

Q: Are the fabrics authentic or reproductions?

A: Authentic. We source from major auction houses and dealers around the world. Every scarf or necktie or piece of fabric is authenticated prior to being put into production. Our luxury iconic designer fabrics is what makes Respoke unique.

Q: Are you associated or affiliated with any of the silk designers whose material you have repurposed into the espadrilles?

A: No, we purchase and authenticate silks and other materials and we then transform them for our own unique shoe designs. We are in no way affiliated with any party who originally designed the silk that we use in Respoke espadrilles.

Q: How should Respoke espadrilles be cleaned?

A: We suggest stuffing the toe (to maintain its shape) with a dry washcloth and using a bit of mild detergent or shampoo on a clean damp cloth to remove any stains. Allow to air dry away from sunlight. Never wash your Respoke espadrilles in a machine.

Q: How much is Shipping?

A: We offer worldwide Complimentary Shipping on all orders.

Q: Do you offer Express Shipping?

A: Yes; please contact us prior to purchase to request a quote.

Q: How long does it take to receive my order?

A: We do our best to ship your Respoke espadrilles as quickly as possible, typically within 48 hours of order. Delivery times vary depending on destination but are usually 3 to 8 business days. We ship Monday thru Friday typically using UPS Ground from our facilities in New York City and Cape Cod Massachusetts.

Q: Do you accept Returns?

A: Yes, for all products except Respoke Masks. We want you to love Respoke as much as we do. If you aren’t entirely happy with your purchase please contact us at info@respoke.com. Please include your name, email address and order number so that we can locate your order and we will make it right.

Here’s the deal:
We accept returns within 30 days of purchase and offer a full refund on all full-priced domestic purchases. All returns must be in new condition, unworn, and free of any damage. Purchases must have been made on Respoke.com.

We offer complimentary return shipping on exchanges or store credit only and only within United States.

Refunds will be issued to the original form of payment. Store credits will be issued to your account under the email address you used to place your order. Store credits do not expire. International customers see details on International Returns below.

Q: Do you accept returns from retail stores?

A: No. If you purchased (thank you!) from a retailer please contact them directly to arrange a return.

Q: Do you offer exchanges?

A: No. If you want to exchange your Respoke product, you will first need to return your current purchase for a Store Credit and then purchase a new pair on Respoke.com.

Q: Do you ship Internationally?

A: Yes. We offer complimentary worldwide shipping. If you live in an area that has extra special delivery instructions, please contact our Customer Service and we will assist you with your order.

Q: Do you accept International returns?

A: No. Unfortunately at this time we do not accept returns from outside the United States. We hope to offer this in the near future. For now all International Orders are a final sale.
