A Seaside Escape: Discovering the Charm of Martha’s Vineyard

A short ferry ride from Cape Cod lies a timeless island escape that feels like it is worlds away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Martha’s Vineyard, with its windswept beaches, gingerbread cottages and its everlasting elegance, has been a summer destination for artists, presidents and beachgoers alike. Read along for all the must see spots, hidden gems, and insider tips to make the most of your getaway.

Accommodations

Upon your arrival to Martha’s Vineyard, the Harbor View Hotel, Lambert’s Cove Inn & Resort and Isabelle’s Beach House are where we recommend you stay.

The Harbor View Hotel is located in Edgartown and is within a five minute walk from Edgartown Lighthouse and Lighthouse Beach, one of the Vineyard’s most iconic spots. Lambert’s Cove Inn & Resort is said to be a hospitality and culinary gem located in West Tisbury. Isabelle’s Beach House is an oceanfront bed and breakfast located in Oak Bluffs that offers bowling, regular and mini golf, fishing and diving.

Activities

When visiting the Vineyard, it is a MUST that you take the leap off of Jaw’s Bridge (located off Beach Road) with your favorite person’s hand.

Take a stroll through the famous whimsical and colorful gingerbread houses in Oak Bluffs, that make up the historic Methodist camp meeting grounds. You’ll also discover concerts and live music in the open-air Tabernacle.

Take a scenic stroll through Edgartown, and admire all of  the eighteenth century sea captains’ homes and upscale shops. Make sure you stop into our Respoke location to say hello!

Looking to connect a little bit more with nature? Spend an afternoon walking one of the most scenic hiking trails on the Vineyard at Great Rock Bight Preserve. If you’re looking to explore off land a little bit more, rent a kayak through Island Spirit Kayak on State Beach.

In dire need for some RNR? Head over to Moshup beach located below the colorful clay cliffs of Aquinnah. This beach is less crowded than a few of the others but still has spectacular views, soft sand, great waves for surfing, and if you head to the far end of the beach, it is clothing optional.

Food

Espresso Love is a nice and easy breakfast and lunch spot, guaranteed to give you the perfect cup of coffee along with both breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads and more.

One of our favorite hidden gems in Edgartown is Behind the Bookstore, a small cafe located behind Edgartown Books. They not only offer the best coffee in town, but also have breakfast, lunch AND dinner menu options available.

Looking for the freshest seafood the Vineyard has to offer? Pop on over to Atlantic Fish & Chop house, just a few doors down from our Respoke Boutique.

L’etoile is another restaurant that gets all of their ingredients such as local herbs and produce from local farms, along with shellfish from the surrounding waters.

19 Raw offers both a lunch and dinner menu, featuring incredible seafood bites along with a large meat and steak option.

We hope you enjoy your stay!
